Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology is preparing to conduct two new administrative procedures online via the National Single Window (NSW), focusing on the management of radioactive substances.

According to the ministry, this is part of the trade facilitation plan of the National Steering Committee for the ASEAN Single Window and National Single Window for 2018.

Originally, the plan called for the agency to connect five administrative procedures to the NSW on the management of radioactive substances.

These were the procedure for license of radiation operation for exports of radioactive substance; procedure for license of radiation operation for exports of nuclear source material, nuclear material, and nuclear equipment; procedure for license of radiation operation for radioactive substance imports; procedure for license of radiation operation for imports of nuclear source material, nuclear material, and nuclear equipment; and procedure for license of radiation operation for transit of radioactive substance, radioactive waste, nuclear source material, and nuclear material.

However, upon review, the ministry proposed that only two procedures—those on the processing of a license in radiation operation for export and for import of radioactive substances—should be connected.

The ministry said it has already deployed four other administrative procedures via the NSW, all relating to quality measurement, with a total of 354 documents handled.

The agency added that in the implementation of its administrative tasks via the NSW, it is assisted by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
