The customs authorities of Hong Kong and Mexico recently signed a joint action plan to develop a mutual recognition agreement covering their respective Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) programs.

The action plan will include an analysis of their AEO programs, joint validation visits to companies, an evaluation of results, and collaboration with the trade community aimed at reaching a mutual recognition agreement.

According to Mexican authorities, this initiative forms part of an ongoing commitment by Mexico to strengthen supply chain security and international relations and facilitate trade.

The AEO program is primarily a trade facilitation measure introduced by the World Customs Organization, with the aim to enhance security through granting recognition to reliable operators and encouraging best practice at all levels in the international supply chain.
