Vietnam will finish deploying the Vietnam Automated System for Seaport Customs Management (VASSCM) this year, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs.

Vietnam Customs said it has deployed this system in 28 of the 35 provincial-level customs departments, including those of key localities like Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong city, Quang Ninh province, and Ba Ria-Vung Tau province.

The seven remaining customs departments for deployment of the system are Ca Mau, Bac Ninh, Dak Lak, Gia Lai-Kon Tum, Ha Tinh, Nghe An, and Ha Nam Ninh. Businesses with warehouse, storage and port-related activities registered with these departments account for only 7% of all companies of this kind nationwide.

According to Vietnam Customs, 315 enterprises engaged in the warehouse, storage and port-related business have participated in the VASSCM.

Le Duc Thanh, deputy director of Vietnam Customs’ IT and statistics division, said Vietnam Customs will finish deploying the VASSCM at all seaports and airports this year to enhance customs operations and reduce the time needed for customs clearance as well as lower costs to be paid by exporters and importers.
